As you may have guessed, with the lack of consistent snow the past few season, we’ve not been able to groom as much as we’d like to which means our primary source of income has taken a hit. If you remember, we purchased much needed updated grooming equipment in 2019 and as our luck would have it, we’ve not had good snow winters since then. After this season our groomer will be paid off and the financial pinch will start to lighten up, but we have spent the majority of our savings on this grooming equipment due to the lack of grooming we’ve been able to do.
For those that don’t know, the Gully Jumpers get to keep the majority of the club membership dues that anyone buys, but the money for the TMA that you buy for your machine goes to VAST, we don’t get any of that money. VAST uses that money to pay the clubs to groom the trails, so that is our primary source of income. With the contract we currently have with VAST we get paid $13.50 a mile to groom, with a set cap on mileage, meaning in a very good year, we have a limit that we can groom and expect to be paid for it. The money VAST collects from TMA’s is also used for construction grants, equipment grants, etc.
With that said, any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.
