EAST MONTPELIER GULLY JUMPERS
Minutes of Meeting
December 13, 2005

Meeting was called to order with nine (9) members present.

Liberty Mutual Representative, Charlie Desmarais spoke about sled insurance through ?VAST? program.

Secretary?s report was read. Motion to accept was made by Pat McKinstry. Motion seconded by Denny Gove. Motion carried.

Treasurer?s report was read and accepted.

County Meeting:
-Mushers: Trail safety and etiquette guidelines. VAST says up to clubs whether they want mushers on their trails.
-Landowners asking for TMAs for allowing use of their land. Not a factor in Washington County at this time. Orleans County gives each landowner 2 certificates good for club and county dues as a solution. Orleans has also purchased rescue sled for each fire department that wants one and rents 17 port-a-potties ? 1 for each club to be placed at convenient points.
-Working to make legal age for groomer operators. One club got caught with 14 year old grooming.
-More than half clubs don?t expect to be open by start date-down trees.
-Waitsfield-Route 100 trail closed between Kenyon?s and Duxbury Strore.
-Worcester-New trail ready.
-Sno-Bees-Groomer project requested $1,000 from County club-Underdrain installed before trail open.

Trail Master report:
-Submitted paperwork to VAST for projects at end of railroad bed and Coburn Road.
-Trails marked.
-Gates will be opened on or around 19th.
-Pat, Lyle and Roger checked and cleared trails at Hawkins, Mekkelsen, Vissering, and Railroad bed. Daniel Blair checked trail from Center Road to County Road. Rest will be checked prior to grooming. Moved trail from 4-Corner School closer to Parker?s.
-Still have tracks and final drive to do on Piston Bulley. Will talk to Peter and Dave. Maybe do at Mekkelsen?s?
-Got six bedliners from Ken Santor; have cut 3 ready to put on Route 2 Suspension bridge.
-Volunteer TMA?s-Pat & Lyle McKinstry, Ron Baker, Dave Guilmette and Daniel Blair.

New Business:
-Parking lot plowing.
-Scholarship awards.
-Appeal from Town-Dodge and Coburn Roads.
-Ski Safety talk.
-Peacham has big problem, but ride-in is listed.
-Grooming contract-Sandy Woodbeck talked to head of Montpelier Club. Haven?t done anything about Gould Hill. Asked why Montpelier doesn?t go into grooming. Possible Calais doesn?t want to groom Worcester?s new trail. Northfield?s been talking about creating trail to Montpelier.
-Sandy Woodbeck suggests we attempt to groom Montpelier. Have approval letter for Gould Hill. Montpelier may have problem with Steve Gray retiring. Getting approval to run road next year. Need to start working on for not grooming them next year (if still in road) now!

Henry Murray made motion to adjourn. Motion seconded by Pat McKinstry. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
